What is love? It’s as if our world is collectively crying out this question; grasping at every conceivable (and inconceivable) notion of what love is. If you google “love” you’ll find it defined as an intense feeling of deep affection. This description doesn’t even begin to capture the essence and the enormity of what love is…particularly God’s love.

1 John 3:16 states: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us.”  It’s hard to fathom this kind of love! When we delight in and live in this extraordinary love, our world has the opportunity to see perfect love manifested in us.

Oh, if the love of the Father enters into a man’s soul…it will change him; it will sway him with the noblest passion; it will make him a zealot for Christ; it will cast out selfishness; it will change him into the image of Christ and fit him to dwell in heaven where love is perfected. [Charles Spurgeon]

February is the month of love. I encourage you to share the perfect love of God with others and to exemplify 1 Corinthians 13 in your daily walk. I can hear Dionne Warwick singing “What the World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love.” Let’s give the world God’s love. It’s the sweetest love there is.
